Row 1 : K1, pm, k1
Row 2 : Kfb, sm, kfb (4sts)
Row 3 : K2, sm, k2
Row 4 : Kfb, k1,sm,k1,kfb (6sts)
Increase Section :
Row 1 : K to m, sm, k to end
Row 2 : Kfb, k to m, sm, k to last st, kfb
Row 3: K to m, sm, k to end
Row 4: Kfb, k to 2 sts before m, ssk, sm, k2tog, k to last st, kfb
Repeat rows 1-4 until approx. half of yarn remains
Decrease Section :
Row 1 : knit to m, sm, k to end
Row 2 : Knit to M, sm, k to last st, kfb
Row 3 : Knit to m, sm, k to end
Row 4 : K2tog, k to 2 sts before m, ssk, sm, k2tog, k to last st, kfb
Work rows 1-4 until 2 sts remain on one side of marker. Knit rows 1- 3

Notes:
I use about 300g of DK weight (3 full skeins) when I knit this shawl shape.
I find it makes the perfect size for a cooler climate, long enough to be easily wrapped around and secured in the front and easily tucked into a coat.
